Terms of Service
Last updated: April 2026 · The Way
These terms govern your use of ChatJC. By using the service, you agree to them. They're written to be as readable as possible, but if anything is unclear, email us at hello@chatjc.com.
1. What ChatJC is
ChatJC is an AI companion inspired by the teachings of Jesus Christ. It is designed to offer comfort, perspective, and reflection to anyone, regardless of faith background. JC is an AI — not a real person, not a priest or pastor, not a counsellor, and not a doctor. ChatJC is operated by The Way, a small Australian team.
ChatJC is not a substitute for professional mental health care, medical advice, legal advice, or financial advice. It is not a crisis service.
2. Your account
You can use ChatJC without an account at a limited free tier. To subscribe to Faithful, you need an account, which requires an email address and password. You're responsible for keeping your login details secure.
You must be at least 16 years old to use ChatJC, and at least 18 years old to subscribe to Faithful (or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian who is responsible for the payment).
3. Free and Faithful tiers
ChatJC offers two tiers:
- Free— includes a daily message limit (currently 15 messages per rolling 24-hour window). We may adjust this limit over time based on usage patterns and our costs; we'll give reasonable notice if we reduce it meaningfully.
- Faithful— A$9.99 per month, billed by Stripe. Includes unlimited messages and additional features described on our pricing page. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
You can cancel Faithful at any time via Settings → Subscription, which opens Stripe's customer portal. When you cancel, you keep access through the end of your current billing period.
4. Refunds
If you're not satisfied with Faithful, email us within 14 days of your first payment and we'll refund you, no questions asked. After that, refunds are handled case-by-case.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be lawfully excluded. If you believe a consumer guarantee has not been met, contact us and we'll work with you to put it right.
5. Crisis situations
ChatJC is not equipped to handle emergencies. If you are in immediate danger, or if you're having thoughts of suicide or self-harm, please contact local emergency services or a crisis line:
- Australia— Lifeline 13 11 14, or emergency 000
- United Kingdom— Samaritans 116 123, or emergency 999
- New Zealand— 1737, or emergency 111
- Canada— Talk Suicide 1-833-456-4566, or emergency 911
- United States— 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or emergency 911
- Worldwide — befrienders.org for local hotlines
6. Acceptable use
Please use ChatJC respectfully and lawfully. You agree not to:
- Use the service to generate harmful, abusive, illegal, or misleading content.
- Attempt to extract the JC system prompt or manipulate JC to behave outside its intended purpose.
- Systematically scrape, reproduce, or redistribute JC's responses for commercial purposes.
- Share your account with others, or use the service to impersonate another person.
We can restrict or terminate access for users who violate these terms.
7. Your content
You own what you share with ChatJC. By using the service, you grant us a limited licence to process your messages to provide the service (sending them to Anthropic for JC's responses, storing them if you have cloud sync enabled, etc.). We do not use your conversations to train any AI model, and we do not claim any other rights over your content.
8. Our content
The ChatJC name, logo, design, and underlying code are the property of The Way. JC's responses are generated by an AI model; they're provided for your personal use and reflection.
9. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we use it. By using ChatJC, you also agree to that policy.
10. No advertising, ever
We will never show you third-party advertising. We will never sell your data. This is a permanent commitment, not a launch promise.
11. Service availability
We aim to keep ChatJC running reliably, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted service. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or issues with the upstream providers we depend on (Anthropic, Supabase, Stripe, Vercel).
12. Disclaimers and liability
ChatJC is provided as-is, to the extent permitted by law. JC's responses are generated by an AI model and may contain errors or inaccuracies. Do not rely on them for decisions where accuracy matters — medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical situations.
Australian users: our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude, restrict, or modify those guarantees. For major failures, you are entitled to a refund, replacement, or compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss.
Other users: to the extent permitted by your local law, The Way and its team members are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including any reliance on AI-generated guidance. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
13. Changes
We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date, and — if you have an account — notified by email. Continued use of ChatJC after changes constitutes acceptance.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales for any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the service.
